Archways Scholarship Fund

Archways Sober Living is a residential sober living provider serving the Traverse City region of Northwest Michigan. Our mission is to empower individuals entering recovery by offering safe, accountable housing and essential resources that support long-term sobriety. Residents in our homes participate in structured 12-step recovery programs to build the healthy habits proven to sustain long-term recovery. Between 2023 and 2025, Archways Sober Living has provided housing for over 180 individuals seeking stability and support during their recovery journey. Unfortunately, recent Medicaid cuts have dealt a severe blow to recovery services in our region, forcing other organizations to reduce services or close altogether. At a time when support is more critical than ever, these losses have increased barriers for people trying to rebuild their lives. For many individuals, transitional housing and sober living are essential first steps after treatment. Without access to stable housing, people often return to environments that undermine their hard-won progress. Research shows that stable housing greatly enhances the likelihood of long-term recovery by giving individuals the foundation they need to focus on treatment, build routines, and engage consistently with support services. Studies of recovery and supportive housing find that residents in recovery-focused homes have:

  • Significantly higher rates of treatment engagement and sustained abstinence compared to those without recovery housing.
  • Recovery environments that are part of larger, structured programs are more likely to produce total abstinence and positive employment outcomes.
  • Housing stability paired with ongoing supportive services is linked to improved retention in treatment and reduced relapse risk.

Why donate to the Archways Scholarship Fund?
Stable housing isn’t just a roof—it’s a lifeline that dramatically increases a person’s chance to succeed in recovery and rebuild their future. Your contribution helps remove one of the biggest practical barriers to long-term sobriety: the inability to afford first month’s rent. Without this support, many are forced to return to unsafe, unstable living situations that correlate with higher relapse rates and poorer health outcomes. We are proud to set a fundraising goal of $10,000, which will provide first month’s rent for 16 individuals ready to take the next step in their recovery.

This support provides:

  • Immediate stability for individuals transitioning from treatment
  • Increased access to consistent recovery programming
  • A stronger foundation for employment, community engagement, and long-term well-being

Your donation changes lives.

Every dollar invested in housing for people in recovery yields returns far beyond rent payments. It helps reduce emergency service usage, increases treatment participation, and supports healthier, more productive members of our community. Consider donating to the Archways Scholarship Fund today—your support could be the difference between someone slipping back into instability and achieving lasting recovery and a renewed life.
